Jim Carrey stars in Bruce Almighty, a Universal Pictures comedy that re-teams him with Ace Ventura, Pet Detective director Tom Shadyac. Jim Carrey is one of the world's most popular and versatile stars. Following early appearances as a stand-up comedian and roles in features and TV, Carrey broke out in the 1990 comedy series In Living Color - in which Jim performed a vast array of characters - and then in the title role of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is a local Eyewitness News TV reporter in Buffalo, New York, best known for doing humorous, homespun, human interest stories...which make everyone happy but him! Bruce would much rather be replacing the soon-to-retire anchorman, or at the very least, reporting significant news from international hot spots. Essentially, Bruce (Jim Carrey) is discontented with nearly everything in his life, and rarely misses an opportunity to complain about it.

Then, Bruce losses his job. Wandering around, he comes across a rather interesting building with a rather interesting janitor. The janitor turns out to be God (Morgan Freeman) in human form. Answering Bruce's complaints and despair, God endows Bruce with all of his powers. And Bruce must decide how to best use them.
